Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:
Friday, June 30: At 12:19 pm a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident on Hwy 30 near Hwy 144 at Grand Junction. Damian Davidson, 31, of Ogden was eastbound on Hwy 30 driving his 2022 Ford F350 pickup truck when Marvin Paul, 25, of Boone pulled out in front of him driving a 2020 Toyota Corolla. Paul was cited for failure to yield the right of way. Damage to his vehicle was estimated at $1,200. Damage to Davidson’s vehicle was estimated at $700. At 2:51 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of two dogs running at large in and around Scranton. A 7:57 pm a deputy investigated the theft of a vehicle from the 900 block of Parkland Ave in Hardin Township. The vehicle was found later in Fort Dodge. At 9:53 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with an arrest at Wild Rose Casino.
Thursday, June 29: At 7:02 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a traffic stop in the 700 block of Cedar St.

Tuesday, June 27: At 5:33 pm a deputy assisted with traffic control on Hwy 30 near G Ave east of Scranton for an implement in the ditch.
Monday, June 26: At 3:24 pm the sheriff and a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 4 near 290th St in Franklin Township. Robert Harvilicz, 43, of Jefferson was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while revoked*. At 3:33 pm the sheriff and deputes assisted the Jefferson PD with a search warrant in the 800 block of S. Elm St. The search warrant was in reference to Harvilicz. At 3:50 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 900 block of C Ave in Kendrick Township. At 5:34 pm the sheriff, deputies, Iowa State Patrol, Scranton fire and rescue, Jefferson fire, Greene County Ambulance, and Grand Junction rescue responded to a four-vehicle fatal accident on Hwy 30 near Forest Ave east of Scranton. Four people were taken by Greene County Ambulance and Grand Junction rescue to Greene County Medical Center with serious injuries. Two were flown to other hospitals. One person died. The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the accident.
Sunday, June 25: At 4:42 pm a deputy picked up two dogs reported as running at large in the 1300 block of 100th St in Dawson Township. The dogs were taken to the animal shelter. At 9:42 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 1000 block of Railroad St in Grand Junction.
Saturday, June 24: At 1:21 am a deputy and the Scranton fire department responded to a vehicle fire in the 1400 block of Falcon Ave in Jackson Township. The vehicle was a total loss; the driver had fled the area. At 7:36 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 700 block of Lincoln St in Scranton. At 10:31 am a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 200 block of Anyer St in Dana. At 2:12 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out in the 1900 block of J Ave in Greenbrier Township. At 5:05 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on D Ave near 120th St in Cedar Township.
Friday, June 23: At 5:05 pm a deputy assisted with a grill fire in the 900 block of Bell St in Churdan.
Thursday, June 22: At 2:13 am a deputy assisted with a horse running at large in the 1200 block of 245th St in Jackson Township. At 3:59 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on 230th St near S Ave east of Grand Junction. Sandra Groves, 51, of Jefferson struck a deer with a 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $2,500. At 6:06 pm the sheriff and deputies assisted with finding a child lost on the bike trail between Perry and Jefferson. The child was found in Perry. At 9:50 pm a deputy investigated an assault and property damage complaint in the 500 block of 130th St in Cedar Township. Antonio Espana, 51, of Montevedo, MN, was arrested for assault while displaying a dangerous weapon*.
Wednesday, June 21: At 8:24 am a deputy investigated a dog bite in the 400 block of S. 11th St in Grand Junction.
Tuesday, June 20: At 4:34 am a deputy investigated a complaint of noise on Fitzpatrick St near Harding St in Churdan. At 7:50 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of an aggressive dog in the 100 block of W. Percival St in Rippey.
Monday, June 19: At 5:20 am the sheriff and a deputies assisted the Jefferson PD with a death investigation in the 800 block of E. Adams St. At 4:54 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 100 block of Sunset Dr in Grand Junction. At 5 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 200 block of North St in Dana.
Sunday, June 18: At 8:20 am a deputy assisted with pigs on the roadway on Hwy 30 near J Ave west of Jefferson. At 9:34 am a deputy investigated found property in the 1400 block of 225th St in Jackson Township. At 2:15 pm a deputy arrested Raymond Steadman, 53, of Rippey for Polk County arrest warrants for parole violation*. At 7:15 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with an assault investigation in the 700 block of Pinet Place.

Wednesday, June 14: At 2:56 pm a deputy and the Paton fire department responded to a grass and utility pole fire in the 700 block of W. Ave in Junction Township. At 8:32 pm a deputy investigated reported gun shots near the Squirrel Hollow boat ramp in Grant Township.

Monday, June 12: At 2:16 pm a deputy assisted DHS with an investigation south of Jefferson. At 8:09 pm a deputy investigated found property in the 900 block of High St in Scranton.

Saturday, June 10: At 3:46 am a deputy, Jefferson PD, Jefferson fire department, and Greene County Ambulance responded to a structure fire in the 400 block of N. Vine St in Jefferson. The residence has smoke and water damage in most of the house. One bedroom has fire, smoke, and water damage. Three occupants were taken to the ER for smoke inhalation. At 7:21 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 800 block of Jay St in Churdan. At 7:25 pm a deputy arrested Laurann Perry, 26, of Perry for driving while license barred*.

Thursday, June 8: At 4:47 am a deputy assisted the Webster County sheriff’s office with a semi rollover on 360th St and Baxter Ave in Webster County. At 7:39 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in the 500 block of 1st St in Rippey.
Wednesday, June 7: At 10:58 am a deputy investigated a domestic assault that occurred in a moving vehicle in the 1800 block of 230th St east of Jefferson. At 11:11 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD in responding to an attempted burglary in the 600 block of W. Lincoln Way.
Tuesday, June 6: At 3:07 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Hwy 30 near Oakland Ave east of Jefferson. Bruce Keeney, 65, of Jefferson struck a deer with a 2019 Toyota Highlander, causing an estimated $1,500 in damage.
Monday, June 5: At 2:48 pm a deputy investigated a single-vehicle rollover accident on 250th St near W Ave in junction Township. Stephen Bailey, 30, of Churdan lost control of a 2016 Kenworth cement mixer. Bailey was cited for failure to maintain control. The estimated damage to the mixer is $50,000.
Sunday, June 4: At 12:06 pm a deputy investigated found suspected methamphetamines in the 500 block of N. 16th St in Grand Junction. At 4:08 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson Police Department with power lines down in the 400 block of W. Harrison St. At 5:22 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 700 block of S. 11th St in Grand Junction.
Saturday, June 3: At 4:25 pm a deputy assisted with cattle on the roadway on D Ave near 120th St in Cedar Township.
Friday, June 2: At 1:17 am a deputy investigated an assault in the 800 block of Hill St in Churdan. At 4:53 pm a deputy investigated found bones in the 1400 block of 265th St in Greenbrier Township. At 7:16 pm a deputy investigated an accident on 9th St in Grand Junction. Aaron Hansen, 34, of Clive was stopped for train in a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse when James McAtee, 31, of Grand Junction struck the rear of his vehicle with his 2005 Ford F250 pickup truck. McAtee was cited for following too close and leaving the scene of an accident. Damage to his vehicle was estimated at $200. Damage to Hansen’s vehicle was estimated at $1,200.
