Phyllis Mae Creamer was born June 27, 1933, at the home of her parents, Robert Lee and Ethel (Seyl) Creamer, in Laurel, NE. Phyllis died on June 22, 2023, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, at the age of 89 years.
Phyllis lived in Laurel until December of 1945, when the family moved to Grand Junction, IA. She graduated from Grand Junction High School in May of 1951. In the fall of that year she went to Omaha, NE, and attended Commercial Extension Business College. She worked in the office of General Electric Supply Company in Omaha.
In January 1955, Phyllis was united in marriage to Thomas R. Cullenbine. Later they divorced. On Dec. 28, 1965, Phyllis was united in marriage to Eugene (John) Staebler. They made their home on a farm east of Beaver. Later they moved into the town of Beaver. She was the city clerk of Beaver for 32 years.
In December of 1987, they moved to an acreage north and west of Jefferson. After her husband’s death in 2012, Phyllis moved into Jefferson.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband John Staebler; son Michael Cullenbine; brother Richard (Dick) Creamer; son-in-law David Haub; and twin great grandsons.
She is survived by her children Patricia Hight of Richland, WA, Kathy Haub of Boone, and Shelia (Jack) Schlobohm of Des Moines; daughter-in-law Phyllis Cullenbine of Colorado Springs, CO; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
No public services are planned at this time. Memorials are suggested to the Jefferson Public Library.
