Greene County district court, week ending May 5

In Greene County district court Cody Michael Husar, 20, of Churdan was granted a deferred judgment May 3 after changing his plea to guilty to a charge of possession a fraudulent driver’s license or ID. He was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year and a judgment was entered for a $430 civil penalty. He was also granted a deferred judgment after he pleaded guilty to a charge of theft- fifth degree, amended from theft- second degree. A judgment was entered for a $105 civil penalty on that charge. A charge against Husar of give/supply alcohol to a minor resulting in injury was dismissed. Husar must pay restitution not to exceed $500 for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Amelia Marie Burnie, 38, of Jefferson was sentenced May 5 to one year in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine. She was sentenced to one year in jail. The jail term was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. Burnie was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. Court costs were $100. A companion case in magistrate court in which Burnie was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. Court costs were $60 in that case. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Shelly Jo Brundage, 51, of Lehigh was granted a deferred judgment after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. She was placed on probation for one year to Boone/Greene County Probation, and she must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. A judgment was entered for a $430 civil penalty. A charge of possession of methamphetamine was dismissed. Court costs were $136.50. A companion case in magistrate court in which Brundage was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. She must pay $95.50 court costs in that case. (Sentencing: McCarville)

A judgment for a $267.50 fine with a $40.13 surcharge was entered against Zein Mohammed Ibrahim, 35, of Harcourt after he pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, amended from possession of marijuana. Court costs were $200. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Richard Dean Washington, 29, of Des Moines was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. A civil penalty of $1,250 was suspended. He was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense, and he must complete a community college drinking drivers course, also at his own expense. Washington was also granted a deferred judgment on a charge of possession of marijuana. A judgment was entered for a $430 civil penalty on that charge. A charge of possession/carrying a dangerous weapon while under the influence was dismissed. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Larissa Mae Hornsby, 27, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment after she pleaded guilty at arraignment to a charge of operating while intoxicated. She was placed on probation for one year to Boone/Greene County Probation. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. She must also complete a community college drinking drivers school. A judgment was entered for a $1,250 civil penalty. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment during the week ending May 5 as follows: Michael Jay Moeller, 40, of Wellsburg, theft- second degree; Samantha Monique Henderson, possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine- second offense; Andy Alexis Ortiz, 26, of Ankeny, false report of indictable offense to public entity; Presley Bruce Johnson, 20, of Sioux Falls, SD, possession of marijuana; Candice Marie Ortiz, 35, of Grand Junction, driving while license barred; and Denise Ann Kuhns, 39, of Grand Junction, possession of marijuana and child endangerment. Trial dates of July 18 were set in every case.

Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Wayne Eugene Royer, 42, of Scranton has been charged with animal neglect resulting in injury. The warrant was issued 10/15/2022 and returned 4/28.

A case was initiated against James Michael Timmons, 43, of Grand Junction on a charge of operating while intoxicated.
