Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:
Saturday, Dec. 31: At 1:48 am a deputy assisted a Jefferson police officer with a traffic stop on N. Elm and W. Adams St. At 9:33 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on Highway 30 near Orchard Ave east of Jefferson. At 9:27 pm a deputy assisted a JPD officer with a traffic stop on Highway 30 near Mulberry St.
Friday, Dec. 30: Routine activity reported.
Thursday, Dec. 29: At 10:27 am a deputy investigated a dog bite in the 600 block of 12th St in Grand Junction. At 4:52 pm a deputy assisted an Iowa State Patrolman with a traffic stop on Highway 30 and J Ave west of Jefferson.

Sunday, Dec. 25: At 9:48 am a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident at 16th and Hager Sts in Grand Junction. A 16-year-old male was northbound on 16th St operating a 1994 Chevy S-10 pickup truck. Diane Schall, 65, of Ogden was eastbound on Hager St operating a 2015 GMC Acadia. The juvenile was cited for failure to obey a yield sign, failure to provide proof of insurance- accident related, and failure to have a valid driver’s license. Damage to each vehicle was estimate at $1,500. At 11:20 am a deputy picked up a stray dog in the 1000 block of Jefferson St in Scranton. The dog was taken to the animal holding facility. At 3:17 pm the sheriff, a deputy, and a Jefferson police officer investigated an assault in the 1100 block of Lincoln St in Scranton. Darren Lehrkamp, 30, of Scranton was arrested for criminal mischief- third degree, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, and going armed with intent*. At 3:43 pm a deputy investigated a hit and run accident in the 300 block of Howard St in Rippey. At 6:34 pm a deputy assisted the Jail with an unruly inmate.
Saturday, Dec. 24: At 9:01 am a deputy assisted a motorist stuck on the railroad tracks on X Avenue near Highway 30 east of Grand Junction. At 9:15 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway in the 300 block of 270th St in Scranton Township. At 9:52 am a deputy investigated a domestic assault in the 800 block of Hill St in Churdan. Grason Lansman, 24, of Missouri was arrested for assault- simple*.
Friday, Dec. 23: At 1:28 am a deputy assisted a motorist stuck in a snowdrift in the 300 block of X Ave in Paton Township. At 11:25 am a deputy assisted a motorist stuck in a snowdrift on Highway 25 near 250th South of Scranton.
Thursday, Dec. 22: At 1:39 pm a deputy assisted a motorist on Highway 4 St near L Ave east of Churdan. At 9:13 pm a deputy assisted a motorist stuck in a snowdrift on 250th St near L Ave in Jackson Township. At 10:07 pm a deputy assisted a motorist stuck in a snowdrift on 305th St near M Ave in Greenbrier Township. At 10:37 pm a deputy assisted a motorist stuck in a snowdrift in the 300 block of X Ave in Paton Township.
Wednesday, Dec. 21: At 7:23 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 30 near R Ave east of Jefferson. Ronald Moreland, 69, of Guthrie Center struck a deer with a 2012 Ford Focus, causing an estimated $1,000 damage to the vehicle. At 8:44 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on 310th St near Highway 4 in Franklin Township.
Tuesday, Dec. 20: At 5:46 am the sheriff investigated a single-vehicle rollover accident on R Ave near 110th St in Dawson Township. A juvenile was southbound on R Ave driving a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. The vehicle hit a patch of ice causing the driver to lose control and roll into the east ditch. There were no injuries. Damage to the truck exceeded value.
Monday, Dec. 19: At 6:20 am a deputy investigated a one-vehicle accident on D Ave. The accident was found to be in Calhoun County. At 1:44 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in the 300 block of 290th St in Willow Township.

Saturday, Dec. 17: At 2:35 am a deputy investigated a single-vehicle rollover accident on 160th St near Highway 4 north of Jefferson The occupants were not at the scene when the deputy arrived. Trey Tucker, 24, of Jefferson was the driver of the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus. Madilyn Van Pelt, 19, of Grand Junction was a passenger and had suspected injuries. Tucker was cited for failure to report a personal injury accident. Damage to the vehicle exceeded value. At 1:12 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on J Avenue and 240th St west of Jefferson. At 7 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 500 block of N. 16th St in Grand Junction.
Friday, Dec. 16: At 6:36 pm a deputy investigated a single-vehicle accident on Highway 30 near E Ave at Scranton. Cynthia Hemphill, 72, of Carroll was westbound on Highway 30 driving a 1999 Chevrolet Lumina. Hemphill lost control and rolled the vehicle in the ditch, totaling the vehicle. Scranton fire and Greene County Ambulance assisted at the scene. Hemphill was transported to Carroll by Greene County Ambulance with suspected injuries. She was cited for failure to provide financial liability.
Thursday, Dec. 15: At 5:52 am a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident on Highway 30 at and J Ave west of Jefferson. A 15-year-old was southbound on J Ave. driving a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer. The vehicle slid on the snow-covered road onto Highway 30. Samantha Reese, 33, of Jefferson was westbound on Highway 30 and struck the Mountaineer when it slid into her path. Reese was driving a 2002 GMC Yukon. Both vehicles were totaled in the accident. The juvenile was transported by Greene County Ambulance with minor injuries. The juvenile was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
Wednesday, Dec. 14: At 4:54 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 200 block of S. 19th St in Grand Junction. At 7:11 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of fireworks being set off in the 700 block of Harding St in Churdan.
Tuesday, Dec. 13: At 6:59 pm a deputy, Greene County Ambulance, and Grand Junction fire and rescue responded to a two-vehicle accident on Highway 30 near N. 11th St in Grand Junction. Sarah Schagt, 35 of Carroll was westbound on Highway 30 driving a 2020 Ford Fusion. Caleb Johnson, 29, of Jefferson was following Schagt in a 2005 Honda Civic. Johnson struck the rear of Schagt’s vehicle, causing an estimated $2,000 damage to that vehicle and an estimated $3,000 damage to his vehicle. Schagt was transported with possible injuries by Greene County Ambulance. Johnson was arrested for operating while intoxicated- second offense*. He was also cited for following too close and open container of alcohol.
Monday, Dec. 12: At 5:46 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 30 near J Ave west of Jefferson. Keith Dreckman, 62, of Carroll struck a deer with a 2014 Chevrolet Captiva, causing an estimated $2,000 damage to the vehicle.
Sunday, Dec. 11: At 1:59 am a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 30 near Granite Ave east of Scranton. Austin Forkner, 34, of Scranton was arrested for operating while under the influence*.
Saturday, Dec. 10: At 2:02 am a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 4 near 170th St north of Jefferson. Silas Naylor, 23, of Fort Dodge was the driver of the vehicle. Naylor was found to be in possession of a suspected controlled substance. Charges are pending lab results. At 4:08 pm a deputy investigated a suspicious person in the 1600 block of Highway 4 south of Jefferson. After talking with the person, it was learned there was a domestic assault in a vehicle. Lia Lenchanko, 18, of Jefferson was arrested for assault causing bodily injury*.
Friday, Dec. 9: At 8:01 am the sheriff and deputy assisted with cattle out in the 900 block of Highway 4 north of Jefferson.
Thursday, Dec. 8: At 9:06 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 1800 block of 230th St in Jackson Township. At 4:10 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on 110th St near Eaton Ave in Cedar Township.
Wednesday, Dec. 7: At 3:25 am a deputy assisted with cattle out on Highway 4 near 170th St north of Jefferson.
Tuesday, Dec. 6: At 8:02 am a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 200 block of E. 2nd St in Grand Junction. At 5:53 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on S Ave near 220th St. Tyson Vance, 42, of Fort Dodge struck a deer with a 2010 Toyota Tundra, causing an estimated $3,000 damage to the vehicle. At 8:37 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on 177th St and A Ave in Cedar Township.
Monday, Dec. 5: At 5:59 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson police department with a two-vehicle accident on Highway 30 at Highway 4 4 in Jefferson. At 8:17 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on 240th St and K Ave in Jackson Township. At 1:54 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 400 block of Sand St in Churdan. At 7:39 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on 237th St near L Ave west of Jefferson. Cassidy Wilson, 24, of Scranton struck a deer with a 2015 Ford Explorer, causing an estimated $1,000 damage to the vehicle. At 7:47 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 2200 block of 120th St in Paton Township.
Sunday, Dec. 4: At 7:55 am a deputy assisted the DNR with a hunting complaint at Pounds Pit on U Ave north of Grand Junction. At 8:28 am a deputy assisted the DNR with a hunting complaint near Seven Hills Park on M Ave west of Jefferson. At 11:16 am a deputy investigated a complaint of illegal hunting on Q Ave near 160th St in Dawson Township. At 12:43 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 600 block of Lincoln St in Scranton. At 3:34 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass on Highway 30 and S Ave west of Grand Junction.
Saturday, Dec. 3: At 1:49 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on O Ave near 310th St in Franklin Township. At 6:34 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 30 near K Ave west of Jefferson. Terry Magner, 69, of Carroll struck a deer with a 2005 Dodge Ram, causing an estimated $1,000 damage to the truck.
Friday, Dec. 2: At 2:34 pm a deputy assisted with pigs out on 110th St and N Ave in Dawson Township. At 11:21 pm a deputy investigated underage drinking party in the 300 block of Howard St in Rippey.
Thursday, Dec. 1: At 7:01 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 30 near Orchard Ave east of Jefferson. Tina Peck, 52, of Jefferson struck a deer with a 2020 Chevrolet Colorado, causing an estimated $3,000 damage to the vehicle.
