The Greene County girls basketball team saw the court three times last week but were unable to pick up a win.

The Rams were scheduled to play again on Tuesday at West Marshall High School, Friday at home against Perry, and on Saturday at Kuemper Catholic High School.

On Monday, Dec. 5, the Rams traveled to Panorama High School to face the Panthers, losing 69-23. The pressure defense employed by the Panthers caused 25 Ram turnovers. The team was unable to get any kind of offensive flow. Panorama held leads of 22-5 in the first and 45-12 at the break. The Rams didn’t score a point in the third quarter.

Emma Hoyle and Grace Hardaway led the team in points, each scoring six. Esther Van Horn scored five points, with Ashlynn Hinners adding four and Payton Kokenge scoring two. The girls had eight offensive rebounds and 19 defensive rebounds in the game. Kamryn Sanders led in rebounds with 10, followed by Payton Kokenge with six.

The Rams shot at 22.5 percent from the floor. They made two of three free throws. They were tagged with 23 fouls and committed 25 turnovers.

Tuesday, Dec. 6, was a home game for the Rams, hosting South Hamilton, but falling 76-17. Once again the Greene County offense sputtered. SH held leads of 23-6 in the first, 46-10 at half time and 65-17 after three frames.

Hoyle led the team in scoring with 14 points and Van Horn added the Rams’ remaining three points. Hinners had three offensive and three defensive rebounds in the game, with the team having seven offensive and 14 defensive rebounds total. They committed 28 turnovers and 12 fouls.

The Rams had another home game on Thursday, hosting the PCM Mustangs. Greene County fell 40-17. The Rams struggled to put the ball through the hoop. The Mustangs jumped ahead 12-4 in the first quarter, stretching the lead to 28-10 at the break and 38-12 after three quarters.

Emma Shipley, Kamryn Sanders and Hinner each scored four points, Hoyle and Van Horn scored two each, and Daniele Madsen added one to the board. The girls had 32 rebounds and 28 turnovers in the game.
