The Greene County boys basketball team picked up one win and two losses last week in three nights of play.
The Rams were scheduled to play again this Tuesday at West Marshall High School, Friday at home against Perry and on Saturday at Kuemper Catholic High School in Carroll.
On Monday, Dec. 5, the Rams traveled to Panorama High School to face the Panthers, falling 70-66. The game was close throughout with not more than three points separating the teams until the final quarter.
Richard Daugherty had a big night, scoring 36 points for the Rams. Nathan Behne scored 10, Brynley Ruzicka added seven and Gabe Ebersole scored six. Daugherty had six successful three-point shots, with Behne and Ruzicka each scoring two. Jesse Miller missed the game due to illness. The team grabbed 22 rebounds but committed 10 turnovers and 21 fouls in the game.
Tuesday’s game was at home against South Hamilton with the Rams picking up a 52-45 win. Greene County held the advantage all night and kept SH at bay. They were up 17-7 in the first and 28-17 at the break. After three quarters, the Rams led 40-29 and squelched the SH rally in the fourth to pick up the win.
Ruzicka led the team in points, scoring 18, with Daugherty and Ebersole each scoring 13. The Rams made 51.4-percent of their field goal attempts. Ebersole had four offensive and six defensive rebounds in the game, and as a team the Rams had 32 rebounds. Turnovers were still plentiful at 26 for the game.
The Rams had their last game of the week on Thursday, hosting the PCM Mustangs and losing 47-42. The Rams went up in the first quarter 12-6 but went cold in the second, trailing 19-15 at the break. The Mustangs stretched their lead in the third, 33-21, and held off the Rams as they charged back in the fourth, falling short in their rally.
Ebersole led in scoring with 14 points and 11 rebounds, Daugherty scored 12 and Behne scored eight. Isaac Carman added six points to the board, and Patrick Daugherty scored two. The Rams had six offensive and 20 defensive rebounds, seven steals and 10 turnovers in the game.
