Greene County High School students are celebrating homecoming next week, with the parade, coronation, and the homecoming football game Friday, Sept. 16.
The public is invited to several activities during the week as follows:
Sunday, Sept. 11 – Powderpuff football, 2 pm, at the Grand Junction field; and boys volleyball, 6:30 pm in the high school gym. Admission for either event is school supplies or $1.
Monday, Sept. 12 – JV football vs Kuemper Knights, 6 pm, Grand Junction field.
Tuesday, Sept. 13 – Kickball tournament, 7 pm, city softball field.
Wednesday, Sept. 14 – Rams Got Talent lip sync contest, 7 pm, high school gym.
Thursday, Sept. 15 – Volleyball vs S. Hamilton, varsity at 6:30, high school gym. Tailgate meal of burgers, chips and water, free will donation to benefit student activities.
Friday, Sept. 16 – Parade leaves from the Linduska Field parking lot at 2:15, travels north on Chestnut St to the courthouse, then west on State St and south of Wilson Ave to disband. Coronation following the parade. The Rams will host the Des Moines Christian Tigers in football at 7 pm at Linduska Field east of the middle school.
Seniors have selected members of the homecoming court. Vying for the title of Homecoming Queen are Sadie Shannon, Emma Halterman, Alexa Peters, Allee Hinote and Gretah Kersey. Homecoming King will be Cody McCollom, Richard Daugherty, Jesse Miller, Bork Ersnes, or Patrick Daugherty. The queen and king will be crowned Friday at about 3 pm on the south side of the courthouse.
