End of life planning outreach event held for military veterans

Approximately 30 veterans, as well as a few spouses, attended the Veterans End of Life Planning outreach event sponsored by Greene County Veterans Affairs and the Greene County Veterans Commission.

This-first-of-its-kind county event was held at Clover Hall on June 1 for all area veterans and their families. Twelve organizations, including three Veteran Affairs and nine local organizations, shared their knowledge of end of life services and benefits to which veterans might be entitled.

Presenters and topics included the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, the Iowa Veterans Home, Veterans Affairs social work, area nursing home/hospice information, wills, powers of attorney, advanced directives, funeral services, Veterans Affairs burial benefits, and information on the Senior Health Insurance Information Program.
