Letter to the editor – M. Weaver re: Covid precautions

To the editor,

The Greene County Medical Center posted on Thursday, May 19, the level for Covid-19 transmission levels had risen to high. So effective Monday, May 23, screening at the main entrances, and universal masking was resumed at the Medical Center.

A review of the data from the Centers for Disease Control, indicates 61.9  percent of the Greene County eligible population has received one Covid vaccine. Contiguous counties percentages were as follows:

Webster   61.14; Guthrie     62.61; Calhoun    62.49; Carroll      64.73; Boone       68.76; Dallas        80.73

REMINDERS:  Vaccines are available at no charge at the pharmacies, and the public health office;

                         Social distancing remains critical when indoors, and when in close proximity to others;

                         Masks, while optional at this time, serve as a deterrent from spreading as well as receiving the virus;

                         Handwashing continues to be an important factor to minimize the transmission.

Greene County is striving to be inviting to visitors, while enhancing economic development. Let us work together to decrease the transmission rate for Greene County.

Sincerely,

Mary Weaver
