Community meal – The Friends of Rippey will serve a free fellowship meal for people in the Rippey community on Friday, April 8, at 6 pm in the Rippey Community Building. Barbecue pork sandwiches, cheesy potatoes, baked beans and drinks will be served thanks to the generosity of Tyson Foods and cooking skills of Mayor Dan Brubaker.
This will be a great time to get to know the new members of the Friends of Rippey, fellow neighbors and learn about the new upcoming community activities.
Rippey Lions Club – The Rippey Lions Club meets Thursday for a potluck meal, business meeting and program beginning at 6 p.m. More plans will be made for the Rippey DAZE celebration coming on July 30.
Dale and Nancy Hanaman and David and Carol John, Jefferson, attended the celebration of life for Joel Pierson in West Des Moines. His wife, Ronda Ridnour Pierson, was a high school classmate of Nancy and Carol at Rippey and East Greene.
Jean’s Jottings – I’m always amazed how organized and efficient it is, watching the staff guide and load people into a plane. Saturday morning was no different until the scanner for the boarding passes stopped working! Oh, my! How we do depend on technology to work!
As the person arrived to try to fix the situation, it soon became apparent that new instructions to load were soon put into place. The 45-minute delay didn’t seem to cause anyone to complain or whine and the staff probably got more compliments and “good day” wishes for the rest of their day!
The screams of excitement from my grandchildren when they picked me up, were well worth changes in an otherwise routine morning of people watching at the airport!
