The Greene County Community School board announced April 1 that a contract for superintendent has been offered to Brett Abbotts pending a final background check.
Abbotts is currently principal at Roosevelt elementary school in Council Bluffs. He has been in this position since 2017. Prior to that he held positions as assistant principal, athletic director, and teacher in schools in Iowa.
He and his wife Kourtney, who is also an educator, have two young children.
“I’m overjoyed, excited, and ready to go,” Abbotts said about his new position. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to build a strong connection between the school and community. I’m want to make a positive mark and continue the growth and good things happening in Greene County.”
Twenty-three applicants applied for the position. Two finalists were interviewed for the position. Abbotts will assume the duties of superintendent beginning July 1, 2022.
McPherson & Jacobson L.L.C. served as consultants in the search process and will continue working with the Greene County Board of Education and the new superintendent in helping establish performance objectives for Abbotts.
