Greene County public health director Becky Wolf reported that 27 cases of Covid-19 were identified in the county in the seven days ending Feb. 14. That brings the total number of cases to 1,866.
The seven-day positivity rate for testing is 6.2 percent; the 14-day positivity rate is 7.6 percent.
Wolf noted the FDA is meeting Feb. 15 to consider a request for emergency use authorization of the new Pfizer pediatric vaccine specifically for children age 6 months to 4 years old.
She also noted the www.coronavirus.iowa.gov and www.vaccinate.iowa.gov web sites will be decommissioned Feb. 16. COVID-19 data can be found at www.idph.iowa.gov. “This action does not lessen the reality that COVID-19 activity is still high, infecting individuals. Please do not let your guard down,” Wolf said.
Also, influenza activity is increasing, predominately Influenza A, the strain that causes more intense symptoms, severe complications, and death. The symptoms of influenza and COVID-19 are very similar (cough, sore throat, fever, body aches, vomiting, diarrhea). Persons who develop any of these symptoms, should stay home from work or school and contact their provider.
