Greene County district court, week ending Jan. 27

In Greene County district court Jody Lyn Schad, 46, of Jefferson was sentenced Jan. 27 to eight days in jail, with credit for time served, after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. The court found him unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $20. Jackson Lee Norton, 30, of Dexter was sentenced Jan. 24 to 15 years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of dominion/control of firearm by felon as habitual offender. The prison term is concurrent to sentences in cases from Polk and Carroll counties. The court found him unable to pay fines, surcharges, restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees or court costs. Charges of possession of contraband in a correctional facility, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana were dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Michael Lee Eastman, 48, of Jefferson was sentenced to nine days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. He will receive credit for time served. A case was initiated against Richard John Sabus, 58, of Churdan on a charge of theft- second degree.
