Wild Rose donates to Greene County Early Learning Center

Dedicated to the growth and vitality of the community, Wild Rose Casino has provided a $100,000 lead gift to Greene County Early Learning Center, a nonprofit childcare center serving children and families from throughout Greene County.

With this significant donation, Wild Rose helps ensure that “Growth Happens Here” by supporting the construction of the center’s new building in Jefferson. This new home for GCELC increases the center’s capacity by about 50 percent to serve 150 children.

“We are so grateful to Wild Rose for stepping up and making a wonderful donation to the Greene County Early Learning Center,” said Bill Monroe, GCELC fundraising co-chair.  They are a great example of a company that puts their county community at the forefront … in not only caring for the families and children of Greene County but also having a vision for our future growth.  As a non-profit organization we would not be able to build a new childcare center without the broad support of all the communities of our county.”

“It’s been said so many times before because it’s true: Children are the future, and we cannot talk about growth, vision and vitality without making sure we provide resources for quality childcare and education,” said Travis Dvorak, general manager of Wild Rose. “The Early Learning Center is a major asset for Greene County families, and we are proud to help lead the fundraising with this $100,000 gift.”

The center’s new building is now under construction by the HPC LLC, an Ames-based contractor. Cherie Cerveny, director of the GCELC, encourages those interested in childcare careers to apply for openings available now and as the center expands.  “We would love to add to our dedicated childcare staff and be ready for opening day of the new center next spring,” Cerveny said.
