Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:
Monday, May 31: At 5:35 am a deputy investigated a violation of a no contact order in the 1900 block of County Road E-18 (130th St) in Paton Township. At 10:20 pm a deputy investigated a 911 hang up call in the 2200 block of Terrace Ave inn Washington Township.
Sunday, May 30: At 9:24 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident in the 2200 block of Highway 4 in Franklin Township. Mark Chandler, 64, of Grimes struck a deer with a 2011 GMC Terrain, causing an estimated $8,000 in damage to the vehicle.
Saturday, May 29: At 2:07 pm a deputy investigated a report of someone shooting at another vehicle. The deputy and an Iowa State trooper located Renee Guzman, 44, of Paton sitting in a 2013 Buick Enclave with heavy front end damage and three bullet holes in the front of the vehicle. The other vehicle was located in Grand Junction and was occupied by Reed Hillenga, 23, of Berwick, Mathew Guzman, 22, of Perry, and Manuel Ochoa, 29, of Perry. Mathew Guzman admitted he shot at the other vehicle three times but stated it was in self-defense, as Renee Guzman rammed their vehicle on Highway 30 near Oakland Ave. Renee Guzman stated they shot at him first on N. Elm St in Jefferson. This case is still under investigation.

Thursday, May 27: At 10:43 am a deputy arrested Jay Wenger of Beaver for operating a motor vehicle without an interlock device.*
Wednesday, May 26: At 9:31 am a deputy arrested Paityn Harrison, 20, of Fort Dodge for driving while license barred and violation of a protective order*. At 11:23 am the sheriff, deputies, Greene County Ambulance, Grand Junction, and Jefferson fire responded to an accident involving a cement truck and a car on Highway 144 near 185th St north of Grand Junction. Norman Taylor, 27, of Ames was northbound driving a 2015 Mack cement truck. He lost control of the truck and sideswiped a southbound 2013 Ford Edge driven by Nancy Carhill, 67, of Jefferson. The Mack truck struck the driver’s side mirror on the Ford Edge. The truck then rolled onto its side and slid onto the shoulder of the southbound lane. Taylor was transported to Greene County Medical Center with minor injuries. Damage to the truck exceeded value. Damage to the Edge was estimated at $500. The accident is still under investigation. At 7:17 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of dogs chasing cattle in the 700 block of 130th Street in Highland Township. At 9:50 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 30 near Eaton Ave east of Scranton. Timothy Schmidt, 33, of Minnesota struck a deer with a 2009 Subaru Outback, causing an estimated $3,500 damage to the vehicle.
Tuesday, May 25: At 1:46 am a deputy investigated a 911 hang up in the 1100 block of Lincoln Street, Scranton. At 3:20 pm a deputy investigated a domestic assault in the 1100 block of Lincoln St in Scranton. Darren Lehrkamp, 28, of Scranton was arrested for criminal mischief- third degree, disorderly conduct, and public intoxication*. At 1:06 pm the sheriff, deputies, Jefferson fire, and Greene County Ambulance responded to a house fire in the 1700 block of J Ave in Jackson Township. There was no damage to the house. At 8:43 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 700 block of North St in Churdan.
Monday, May 24: At 5:20 pm a deputy investigated an open 911 call Franklin Township. At 5:57 pm a deputy assisted with an unruly child in Grand Junction. At 6:29 pm a deputy investigated a 911 hang up in Grand Junction. At 7:30 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of littering in the 300 block of State St in Scranton. At 8:02 pm a deputy investigated a dog bite in the 800 block of 9th St in Scranton. At 8:55 pm a deputy assisted an Iowa State Trooper with an arrest on Highway 30 near County Road P-33 (S Ave) west of Grand Junction. Stephen Dennis, 50, of Sioux City was arrested on a Pottawattamie County warrant for burglary- third degree*.
Sunday, May 23: At 2 am a deputy investigated a 911 hang up near Churdan. At 9:49 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a domestic assault. At 6:17 pm a deputy investigated a gas drive off at the Paton Pit Stop. At 8:25 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 30 at K Ave west of Jefferson. Teresa Nissen, 43, of Ames struck a deer with a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $3,000.

Friday, May 21: At 6:47 am a deputy arrested Travis Smith, 30, of Churdan for driving while license barred*. At 3:12 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 100 block of 240th St in Scranton Township.
Thursday, May 20: At 1:39 pm a deputy investigated a 911 hang up in Grand Junction. 7:48 pm a deputy investigated suspicious activity in the 100 block of Hager St E. in Grand Junction. At 10:28 pm a deputy investigated a train vs car accident on 16th St in Grand Junction. Shari Allen, 62, of Grand Junction got her vehicle stuck on the railroad tracks. Allen left the vehicle and went home. A train struck the vehicle. The Iowa State Patrol is covering the accident portion. A deputy located Allen at her residence and arrested her for driving while license revoked and trespass*.
Wednesday, May 19: At 8:30 am the sheriff arrested Randall Venteicher, 52, of Scranton on an arrest warrant for violation of a no contact order*. At 11:18 am a deputy arrested Whitney Campbell-Perez, 23, of Perry on an arrest warrant for possession of contraband in a correctional facility*.

Monday, May 17: At 10:55 am a deputy assisted the Carroll PD with trying to locate a semi that was involved in a hit and run accident. At 12:03 am a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 2400 block of 337th St in Washington Township. At 1:42 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in the 800 block of Irving St in Scranton. At 4:08 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 500 block of 11th St S. in Grand Junction. At 10:01 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 100 block of Irving St in Scranton.
Sunday, May 16: At 7:20 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the area of 310th St and D Ave in Willow Township.
Saturday, May 15: At 11:49 am a deputy invested a complaint of criminal mischief in the area of Highway 30 and Hillcrest Ave east of Jefferson. At 6:28 pm the sheriff and deputies assisted with a flare up of the Landus Coop building on the 1500 block of Mulberry St.
Friday, May 14: At 8:05 am deputies assisted the Jefferson fire department with grain bin explosion at Landus Coop in the 1500 block of Mulberry St. At 6:03 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 800 block of Jay St in Churdan. At 7:15 pm a deputy investigated a single-vehicle accident in the area of P Ave and 252nd St in Grant Township. Richard Dean Tuhn Jr of Jefferson was traveling eastbound on 252nd when he dropped his cell phone. He attempted to pick it up and found himself driving in the south ditch when his 2002 Ford F150 pickup truck eventually rolled over on its passenger side. The deputy estimated damage to the truck at $6,000. No injuries were reported.
Thursday, May 13: At 7:18 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on Highway 4 near N Ave. At 9:26 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 200 block of S. Main St in Paton. At 1:40 pm a deputy arrested Jason Montgomery, 39, of Fort Dodge for arrest warrants for burglary- third degree*. At 2:57 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of public urination in the 900 block of Grant St in Scranton. At 5:36 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 600 block of 13th St in Grand Junction.
Wednesday, May 12: At 10:52 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 300 block of Third St in Rippey. At 11 am a deputy investigated a phone scam in the 500 block of 280th St in Willow Township. At 5:02 pm a deputy investigated a dog bite in the 1000 block of Hager St E. in Grand Junction.
Tuesday, May 11: At 1:31 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a traffic stop on Highway 30 near Highway 4. At 9:45 am a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 1500 block of T Ave in Franklin Township. At 10:30 am a deputy investigated an assault in the 600 block of 185th St in Kendrick Township. At 10:50 am a deputy investigated an attempted burglary in the 300 block of Hendricks St in Rippey. At 11:13 am a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 1500 block of T Ave in Franklin Township. At 6:18 pm a deputy arrested Dawn Brown, 49, of Scranton on an arrest warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor)*.
Monday, May 10: At 1:18 am a deputy investigated a single-vehicle accident in the 600 block of Hager St E. in Grand Junction. Jammie Benshoof, 41, of Perry lost control of a 2011 Kia Sorento. The vehicle struck a tree and damaged some landscaping. Damage to the landscaping was estimated at $500, and damage to the vehicle was estimated at $4,000. Beenhoof fled the scene on foot. He will be cited for failure to maintain control and failure to provide proof of insurance. At 12:40 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 200 block of Anyer St in Dana. At 1:18 pm a deputy arrested James Harris, 34, of Grand Junction on an arrest warrant for domestic abuse assault- third or subsequent offense*. At 7:13 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 1500 block of F Ave in Scranton Township.
Sunday, May 9: At 5:58 am a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 1000 block of Main St E. in Grand Junction. At 7:24 am a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 200 block of 260th St in Willow Township. At 2:04 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 400 block of 16th St N in Grand Junction. At 2:24 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 2000 block of 260th St in Willow Township. At 3:13 pm a deputy assisted the Carroll County sheriff’s office with a pursuit that ended in Webster County. At 8:08 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on the roadway in the 1500 block of F Ave in Jackson Township. At 8:24 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with an arrest.
Saturday, May 8: At 1:10 am a deputy investigated a noise complaint on Percival and Division Sts in Grand Junction. At 9:39 am a deputy investigated a fire in the 2000 block of 100th St. The fire was a controlled burn. At 7:33 pm a deputy assisted the Boone County sheriff’s office with locating a subject. The subject was located in Boone County. At 8:20 pm a deputy assisted the Perry police department with locating a suspect who may have been traveling through Greene County. At 9:33 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with trying to locate a wanted person in the 500 block of N. Olive St.
Friday, May 7: At 1:10 am a deputy investigated a jail inmate who was tampering with a light fixture. At 4:31 am a deputy investigated a suspicious vehicle at Henderson Park south of Jefferson. At 9:53 am a deputy arrested Devan Wiederien, 19, of Scranton in the 100 block of 250th St in Scranton Township on a warrant for revocation of pre-trial release*. At 1:46 pm a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 144 near 120th St in Paton Township and arrested Brian Rongved, 40, of Gowrie for driving while license barred*. At 11:52 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 1000 block of Main St E. in Grand Junction.
Thursday, May 6: At 11:14 am a deputy arrested Kole Higgins, 26, of Glidden for driving while license barred (25 counts) and an arrest warrant for violation of parole*. At 1:17 pm a deputy investigated a dog bite in the 1800 block of Quest Ave in Grant Township. At 5:54 pm a deputy arrested Donna Campbell of Boone for gambling- false claim of winnings*. At 6:28 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 1100 block of 330th St in Greenbrier Township.
Wednesday, May 5: At 5:50 pm a deputy investigated a trespass complaint in the 300 block of 185th St in Kendrick Township. Randall Gosch, 49, of Carroll and Travis Crichton, 42, of Arnolds Park were cited for trespass.
Tuesday, May 4: At 2:01 am a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass at 19th St and Sandoe Sts in Grand Junction. At 3:31 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 2400 block of Highway 25 in Willow Township. At 3:43 pm a deputy attempted to stop a driver who was known to be driving with a barred license and whose vehicle had excessive window tint south of Grand Junction. The sheriff, deputies, Dallas County sheriff’s office, Boone County sheriff’s office, Perry PD, Granger PD, Iowa State Patrol, and Dallas County EMS pursued the driver for an hour. After conducting several pit maneuvers and deploying spike strips, the driver was stopped at Highway 141 and O Ave in Dallas County. Several patrol vehicles were damage along with the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect was tased and taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail after being checked out. Marcus Terrell, 29, of Carlisle was charged with eluding, driving while barred, and reckless driving*. He was also cited for speed, failure to obey traffic signals, and speeding violations. At 9:55 pm a deputy investigated a domestic assault in Scranton. At 11:34 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 1000 block of Main St E. in Grand Junction.
Monday, May 3: At 4:42 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on Highway 30 near County Road P-33 (S Ave) west of Grand Junction. At 6:07 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident in the 1700 block of County Road P-30 (R Ave) in Grant Township. Amanda Clouse, 31, of Jefferson struck a deer with a 2016 Jeep Renegade, causing an estimated $250 damage to the vehicle. At 2:31 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass at 13th St and Main St in Grand Junction. At 9:35 pm a deputy investigated a domestic assault in the 100 block of 190th St in Kendrick Township. Randall Venteicher, 52, of Scranton was arrested for domestic abuse assault- third or subsequent offense*.
Sunday, May 2: At 12:33 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a suspicious person in the HyVee parking lot. At 8:45 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 144 near 170th St near Dana. Megan Fouch, 36, of Jefferson struck a deer with a 2019 Ford Expedition, causing an estimated $5,000 damage to the vehicle.
Saturday, May 1: At 6:58 am a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 1400 block of Highway 144 south of Grand Junction. At 2:15 pm a deputy and the Jefferson fire department responded to a grass fire in the 2600 block of L Ave in Greenbrier Township. At 10:21 pm a deputy attempted to stop a motorcycle traveling at 105 mph on Highway 30 near Highway 144 at Grand Junction. The motorcycle driver was stopped on Highway 30 and Highway 169 in Boone County. A male juvenile was operating the motorcycle. He was charged with eluding and speeding 105 in a 55-mph zone.
