Greene County district court, week ending April 30

In Greene County district court Juan Angel Guzman, 34, of Jefferson was sentenced April 27 to five years in prison on each of two counts of forgery. The prison terms are concurrent. He was fined $1,025 with a $153.50 surcharge on each count. He was also ordered to pay $450 restitution to HyVee. Guzman was sentenced to 10 days in jail on a charge of theft- fourth degree, with the jail time concurrent to the prison term. He was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. A charge on ongoing criminal conduct and four counts of forgery were dismissed, as was a charge in magistrate court of theft- fifth degree. Court costs were $220. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Nathaniel Clark Aldrich, 33, of Jefferson was sentenced April 26 to 15 years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of willful injury resulting in bodily injury- habitual offender. He was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge. Court costs were $364.04. (Sentencing: Kester)

Danielle Janette Dalton, 37, of Jamaica was sentenced April 23 to 10 days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. She was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. The court found her unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Tyler Scott Mattingly, 26, of Carroll, robbery- first degree, theft- first degree aiding and abetting; Martin John Tolsdorf, 56, of Grand Junction, possession of methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense; Richard James Compton, 51, of Grand Junction, possession of marijuana; Shayne Loren Pegg, 33, of Carroll, possession of marijuana; and Candice Marie Ortiz, 33, of Grand Junction, burglary- first degree. Trial dates were set for June 15 for all defendants except Mattingly. His trial date was set for July 20.

Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Andrew Lee Jensen, 38, of Jefferson has been charged with possession of a controlled substance- third or subsequent offense. The warrant was issued 12/17/2020 and returned 4/29.

Cases were initiated as follows: Breeanna Marie King, 25, of Perry, operating while intoxicated; Russell Lee Gardner, 46, of Panora, criminal mischief- second degree, harassment- first degree, and driving while license barred; Brenda Jean Kennedy, 49, of Grand Junction, possession of methamphetamine; and Whitney Jean Campbell Perez, 23, of Perry, possession of contraband in a correctional facility.
