GrCo Democrats donate trees to eight county towns

With the assistance of Trees Forever, Brad Riphagen, and with the use of some funds from a donation from Shelly Stotts’ campaign, Greene County Democrats are funding an oak tree sapling for each of the county’s towns.

Committees in each town are in the process of identifying where the trees will be planted on community property and getting the permissions. Each of the tree committees will plant their community tree sometime between April 22 , Earth Day, and May 2.

Rippey’s location was the first to be established, and because of its proximity to the Rippey library/Community Center, and the replacement of a much smaller tree, a Serviceberry tree was ordered instead of an oak. Confirmation is pending on Grand Junction’s and Jefferson’s acceptance of a tree; other towns accepting oaks include Churdan, Paton, Dana, Scranton and Cooper.
