Covid rates up slightly

The 14-day positivity rate for Covid-19 testing in Greene County is 8.2 percent as of Friday morning, Jan. 8, according to Greene County public health director Becky Wolf.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in the county is 688. There have been four new cases in the last 24 hours, eight in the last three days, 16 in the last seven days, and 33 new cases in the last 14 days. Of the total, 107 are active cases.

Wolf reminds the public that it takes 2-14 days following the last contact with an infected person to develop symptoms.  “If you develop fever/chills, headache, body aches, fatigue, sore throat, running or stuffy nose, cough, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or loss of sense of taste or smell, please isolate yourself from other household members, using a separate bathroom, if possible,” she said.

She also asked persons to wait until at least 48 hours after the onset of symptoms to seek testing.

The public health Covid hotline, 515-386-0564, is available Monday-Friday, from 8 am to 4:30 pm.
