Fourteen-day positivity rate at 8.0 percent
Greene County public health director Becky Wolf is looking for healthcare workers who want the Covid-19 vaccine and have not yet received it.
Nearly 200 healthcare workers and long term care residents have received the Moderna vaccine. The public health department must assure that all those in that tier – Tier 1a – have received the vaccine before moving to Tier 1b.
Tier 1b includes frontline essential workers (fire, law enforcement, corrections, food and agricultural, manufacturing, U.S. Postal Service, grocery stores, public transit and education; and persons 75 years and older.
Wolf reports two new cases of Covid-19 were identified Jan. 6, bringing the total case count in the county to 684. The 14-day test positivity rate as of Jan. 7 is 8.0 percent.
There have been 10 new cases diagnosed in the last three days, 15 in the last seven days, and 35 in the last 14 days. Of the total, 106 are active cases.
Wolf reminds the public that it takes 2-14 days following the last contact with an infected person to develop symptoms. “If you develop fever/chills, headache, body aches, fatigue, sore throat, running or stuffy nose, cough, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or loss of sense of taste or smell, please isolate yourself from other household members, using a separate bathroom, if possible,” she said.
She also asked persons to wait until at least 48 hours after the onset of symptoms to seek testing.
The public health Covid hotline, 515-386-0564, is available Monday-Friday, from 8 am to 4:30 pm.
