Rotary donates coats for needy youngsters

Dozens of new coats were delivered to New Opportunities by the Rotary Club of Jefferson last week to help kids in Greene county stay warm this winter.

The assortment of 36 coats in a variety of youth sizes were purchased by the club with funds raised through its annual charity auction. The coats are just one of scores of projects benefitting all ages that have received funding from past auctions. The 22nd Rotary auction event will be held virtually Nov. 17-21 at https://www.32auctions.com/JeffersonRotary.

Teresa Lansman, family development coordinator of New Opportunities, appreciated receiving the new coats for boys and girls, especially now as winter approaches. “They will definitely be needed and any left will be utilized as part of next year’s coat drive.”

The Rotary Club is able to purchase the coats through Rotary District 6000’s partnership with the Operation Warm program whose mission is to “provide warmth, confidence and hope to children in need through the gift of brand new winter coats.”
