GrCo schools tell summer lunch plans

Distribution of school lunches in the Greene County school district will end May 28, the scheduled last day of school.  A modified summer lunch program will begin Monday, June 8.

“Although the Governor has given the okay for school districts to open up buildings for summer school and summer lunch, we still have several details, like social distancing, transportation, etc, to work out to make this a reality.  It is our goal to be able to have details worked out so we can start up with the onsite serving of meals by the end of June,” school superintendent Tim Christensen said.

Until that time, the school will pass out sack lunches weekdays  from the Grand Junction Community Center and the Scranton Community Center from 11:30 to 11:50 am, the Rippey Community Center from 12 to 12:15 pm, and the Greene County middle school from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Only lunch will be served, not breakfast. Children/students will be required to pick up the meals.  Meals will not be given  to adults and  multiple meals will not be given to any one person.
