Lola Dzuris, 1927 – 2020

Services were held Feb. 21 at First Baptist Church in Jefferson for Lola Mae Dzuris, 92, of Mora, MN, formerly of Jefferson.

Pastor Bob McNight offered words of comfort. Sheilah Pound was soloist, accompanied by Lois Last.

Casket bearers were Dick Dzuris Jr, James McCaffrey, Doug Smith, Valerie Anderson, Les Fister and Bill Allen. Interment was at the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery.

Lola Mae Stevens Dzuris was born July 12, 1927 in Greene County. She was the daughter of Floyd Stevens and Ethel Neal Stevens. Lola was baptized in April 1936 at the First Baptist Church in Jefferson. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1945 and took business courses at the American Institute of Business in Des Moines.

On January 3, 1946, Lola was united in marriage to Fern S. Dzuris. They became the parents of one son, Richard Steven Dzuris. The family resided near Jefferson until 1952, then farmed northwest of Farlin for seven years. They moved to Minneapolis, MN, in 1958, then in1980 they moved to the Mille Lacs Lake, MN, area. In 1992, Lola and Fern returned to live in Jefferson. For 20 years, Lola and Fern spent their winters in Texas. Lola’s husband Fern passed away in 2010. In 2019, Lola moved to Mora, MN, to be near her son.

Through the years, Lola was employed at Wright Air Force Base in Dayton, OH, Jongewaard Medical Clinic in Jefferson, and she worked in direct sales with Stanley Home Products for many years, retiring in 1966.

Lola loved her family and having family gatherings. She enjoyed Minnesota fishing, needlework and crafts. She and Fern were faithful members of First Baptist Church in Jefferson.

Lola Dzuris died February 16, 2020 in Mora. She was 92 years of age. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Fern; her sisters Elsie Miller and Velma Winkelman; and her brother Darrell Stevens. Lola is survived by her son Richard Steven Dzuris of Mora; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services were arranged by Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home, Jefferson.
