Patricia Monogin, 1934 – 2020

Patricia Monagin, 85, of Jefferson, died January 30, 2020, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines surrounded by her daughters Carole Monagin-Rustan and Kelly Walker, her son Mike Monagin, and many family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents Albert Case and Irene Mohr; brothers Jim Case, Chuck Case, and Donnie Case; sister Stella Ludwig; and sister-in-law Patty Case.

She is survived by her daughters Carole Monagin-Rustan of Pleasant Hill and Kelly Walker of Jefferson; son Mike Monagin of Jefferson; siblings Thelma (Joe) Howell, Kathleen (Kenny) Ochsner John (Ginny) Case, all of Omaha NE; sister-in-law Sandy Case of Jefferson; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and very special friends,Frankey (Jim) Anderson and Barb Bartley of Jefferson.

Pat was born on Oct. 25, 1934, in Omaha. She graduated from Paton-Churdan High School in 1952. She worked many years at AAI in Jefferson, starting on the production floor and worked her way up to top management. After AAI, she formed the company IASPORT with Dane Kious of Jefferson. Pat later decided to leave Iowa and take a position as director of the child care center on the United States naval submarine base in San Diego, CA, where she remained for many years.

When Pat retired, she moved back to Jefferson to be close to her family. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, spending time with family and friends and, of course, hitting the casinos in Jefferson , Las Vegas and Prairie Meadows in Altoona with her Gal Pals, AKA “The Golden Girls”. She was also a member of the  Red Hat Society for some time.

She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and a friend to so many. She loved her family more than anything and really enjoyed time with them. She was always there when anyone needed her. She had a long, fun-filled, loving life. Her strong sense of humor, her laugh and beautiful smile were loved by all. She will always be in our hearts and will never be forgotten.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in May with date to be determined and posted. Professional service by Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home, Jefferson.
