BARDOLE EVENTS – Last week Jason, Allison, Levi, Kate and Chase Bardole from Wauwatosa, WI, visited in the home of Roy and Phyllis Bardole. They like to come back during harvest season in the fall. This fall has been awful with combine breakdowns and snow or rain.
They arrived Friday night, Nov. 15. Roy and Phyllis had gone to the Community Players presentation of “Our Town” that night and greeted their guests when they came home.
The next morning Jason, Allison and Chase started out by picking up some boards at the lumber yard and taking a tractor to be fixed. When noon came it was evident that Chase was really sick. They went to the urgent care in Carroll for the rest of the afternoon! He was given a shot, but told to come back at 9 the next morning.
Equipment was brought from Schyler Bardole’s and since it rained in the night, they weren’t sure they could combine.
Phyllis went to the National Honor Society program at the high school as Avery Bardole was one of the inductees. While she was gone, the guys had taken the combine to the field and Jason and Allison were able to run it for 45 minutes. It wasn’t what they had planned for the weekend, but a least they got to do some things.
The rest of the family had fun. They left Monday morning, but will be coming back for Christmas.
93RD BIRTHDAY – Phyllis Gannon and Jean Borgeson ate at the Lucky Pig in Ogden on Saturday, Nov 23. The occasion was in honor of Phyllis’ 93rd birthday. After lunch, a side trip to the Kate Shelly Bridge was enjoyed before heading to Boone for a little shopping.
Phyllis was home in time for a short nap before joining a group of family members for a birthday supper.
She enjoyed all the cards and phone calls on her special day.

RIPPEY LIBRARY

It has been quite a fall with three snows already and more on the way. It makes it harder for older patrons to come in to the library.
I have been busy logging in DVD’s and books that have been donated. That is appreciated so that we don’t have to buy as many.
I also want to thank the volunteers who help me. Last week we cleaned the front room, sweeping, dusting, and moving things around. We want to make room for the 150th birthday of our town and the items that we will be hosting at that time. We also hope to put up a Christmas tree. The tentative date for our children’s Christmas party may be Dec. 18.
I have bought four new Christmas books and one Mary Higgins Clark book. I have read two of the Christmas books. The last one has been hard to put down. I love Mary Higgins Clark, so always enjoy her books.
We are so fortunate to have memorials to buy books. We appreciate families thinking of the library when they look to give memorial money. We are going to log all the books that were bought with memorial money. Sometimes families find things in their parents’ homes that are donated to the library also. A special thank you to them.
We are still remembering that we as a library have a 75th anniversary, but it has taken a back seat to the 150th birthday meals that are going on. It is hard to have too many things where the same people are involved.
I am having my other knee replaced Dec. 27, so I will again be using volunteers if they are available. I hope everyone will understand if the library has to be closed a day or two. I will get back as soon as possible.
