More than 60 military veterans, active duty military personnel, firefighters, peace officers, and paramedics/EMTs attended a Patriot Day dinner hosted by the Jefferson Elks lodge Sept. 11.
Steve Smith, exalted ruler of the lodge, welcomed guests. Greene County High School vocalists provided the National Anthem.
Lane Fields, winner of the Americanism essay contest, read his essay on the topic “Our Flag – What It Means to Me.”
Guest speaker was Michelle Madsen, NREMT-P, Greene County Ambulance director.
The program closed with Wayne Lautner of rural Jefferson playing “Taps”.
