Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office: Saturday, Aug. 31: At 2:03 pm a deputy investigated a theft in Grand Junction. At 4:18 pm a deputy and the Scranton fire department responded to a vehicle fire in the 1100 block of State St in Scranton. At 7:47 pm a deputy investigated an assault in Churdan.

ReCharge Wednesday, other programs return to JPRD

ReCharge Wednesday is returning to the Greene County Community Center with the start of the new school year. JPRD coed softball league finishes season

The Jefferson park and recreation coed softball league finished the season with a league tournament Tuesday, Aug. 20. The four teams in the league played Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning July 16. Win-loss records going into the tournament were Bob Squad 11-4, Crackin’ Bats 10-5, Hit Faced 7-7-1, and 515 Softball Club 1-13-1.

Greene County district court, week ending Aug. 22

In Greene County district court Chad Morgan Brett, 44,of Coon Rapids pleaded not guilty Aug. 7 to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense. A trial date was set for Oct. 1.
