The Rams are now on their second winning streak of the season after a 7-6 win against St. Edmond in Fort Dodge Thursday.
The Rams scored two runs in the first inning and were up 2-1 at the end of the frame. Both teams scored twice in the third inning for a 4-3 Ram lead. The Rams put of three runs in the sixth and led 7-3 going in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Gaels rallied in the seventh but came up short in their effort to claim a last inning victory.
Emma Hoyle took the win for the Rams, throwing a complete game and giving up one earned run on eight hits. The Rams committed six errors, which helped keep St. Edmond in the game.
Jenna Beyers, Karissa Stephenson and Tieryn Tucker combined for six of the Rams’ nine hits, with Stephenson’s hits both doubles. Stephenson led the Rams with three RBIs and Tucker had two. Singles from Izzy Bravard, Kyla Beyers and Carmyn Paup rounded out the stats for Greene County.
The Rams are 6-15 and play Saturday in the South Hamilton tournament in Stanhope, barring poor weather.
