sTEP activities told

Jefferson police captain Heath Enns recently reported the JPD’s activities during a special Traffic Enforcement Project (sTEP) conducted March 2 – June 2.

Officers wrote 18 citations as follows: speed, 3; no proof of insurance 2; dark windows, 2; open container, 1; seat belts, 1; stop sign/light violation, 1; texting while driving, 1; driving without a license, 1; driving while license suspended or revoked, 1; registration violation 1; equipment, 1; and othertraffic violations, 3.

Officers tested two drivers for operating while intoxicated; no arrests were made.

Officers issued 117 warnings as follows: speed, 26; equipment, 26; no proof of insurance,15; seat belts, 14; registration, 14; dark windows, 8; stop sign/light, 3; texting, 2; public intoxication, 1; and other traffic violations, 8.

Officers assisted nine motorists during that period.
