The beginnings of Greene County Schools’ new career academy are above ground despite the wetter than normal May.
Last week masons began laying brick that will be the interior walls of the career academy. As of the weekend, the interior wall footings were poured and work had begun on the footings for the exterior walls.
According to Sam Harding, owner’s rep for the project, delivery of the first of the precast concrete walls is scheduled for June 17k.
That’s the good news.
The not-so-good news is that according to Harding, sitework on the rest of school site is “woefully behind due to all the rain.”
The career academy and high school are slated to be ready when classes start in August 2020. The gymnasium and auditorium won’t be completed until after the school year begins.
