Extension to offer STEAM Clubs in June

Parents who are looking for something to keep their children busy this summer can consider STEAM Clubs.

Students entering grades 6-8 next school year are welcome to be part of Full STEAM Ahead through ISU Extension & Outreach Greene County. There are two STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) Clubs from which to choose.

Kids in the Kitchen will offer the first step in becoming a master chef. This year it will be held at two sites: the Churdan library (June 11, 9 am to 3 pm) and the Greene County Extension office (June 12, 2019, 9 am to 3 pm). The registration deadline is June 7. Participants will prepare delicious dishes while keeping nutrition and safety in mind.

Robotics will engage participants in design and programming electronics devices. Robotics will meet Monday through Friday, June 17-21, from 9to 11 am at the Extension office. (

The program is offered through a grant from the Iowa Department of Human Services.

Youngsters are welcome to choose more than one club. Club size is limited. The registration deadline is Friday, June 7.
