The National Weather Service’s most recent prediction of snowfall totals expected Saturday into Sunday call for Rippey residents to get less snow than Churdan residents.
The NWS advises Iowans to expect “a sharp gradient between areas receiving heavy snow and those with significantly lesser amounts.” Churdan could get as much as 8 inches of snow, while Rippey residents may see 4-6 inches.
However, not even the NWS claims certainty about snowfall totals. “There remains considerable uncertainty in snow amounts along the southeastern edge of the swath of heaviest snow,” states the NWS situation report issued early Saturday morning.
