Library news – The regular meeting of the Rippey library board of trustees will be Monday, Jan. 28, at 5:30 pm in the library.

As I write this we’ve had our first “snow day” as school closed early. Not much snow yet, but I’m afraid our winter is just beginning.

On Jan. 14, I met with the Greene County Library Association. We met at the Jefferson library and also went to visit the county supervisors. We came back to the library for a photo. The Greene County Democrats gave the book “Storm Lake: A Chronicle of Change, Resilience, and Hope from a Heartland Newspaper,” by Art Cullen, the editor of the Storm Lake Times and winner of the Pulitzer Prize. It is an easy read and I recognized a lot of people he writes about in the book. Come in and check it out.

I have also ordered “Becoming” by Michelle Obama. We have memorial money and hopefully will be ordering other books and DVDs. Come in and give suggestions that might be considered.

Also on Feb. 26, Jolene Peters from Jefferson will be doing “Art on the Fly” at the library from 6 to pm. You can take home art that you painted! Put this on your calendar. It will be a fun winter project.
