The Goodwill trailer will be located in Jefferson from April 26 through May 3. It will be parked at the First United Methodist Church, 307 S Wilson. Donations of good, clean usable clothing, shoes, housewares and small furniture; books, CDs and videos; collectibles, usable toys, electronics in working condition and computer accessories are welcome.

Scranton planning for RAGBRAI July 23
More volunteers needed The Scranton community is making plans for the invasion of 10,000-plus bicyclists when RAGBRAI® (Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa) travels through the area on Monday, July 23. Scranton will be the last stop before the bikers arrive in Jefferson where they will stay overnight.

The Jefferson city crew late last week brought to Jefferson a temporary feline “apartment complex” and placed it adjacent to the current animal shelter. The unit was donated by John McCormick of Churdan. He obtained it a few years ago after an animal rescue operation near Churdan.
