The Jefferson Rotary Club recently provided new winter coats to Greene County students and local adults.

The coats were purchased through Rotary District 6000’s Operation Warm Coats, which helps local Rotary clubs purchase cases of new coats at affordable prices. This is the fifth year District 6000 had offered Operation Warm Coats.

Jefferson Rotarians purchased 37 coats in sizes for elementary students through adults. The student-sized coats are being distributed through Greene County Schools.

Teresa Lansman, of New Opportunities, was happy to have new adult coats to offer. “People always remember kids, but there are parents, too, who need warm coats. And there are adults who are single and aren’t part of the more family-based programs,” Lansman said. “I know our clients will appreciate having something new.”

Rotary president Carol Durbin said the club is happy to be able to serve all members of the community, “particularly those who need a little extra help.”
