Fund drive for new food pantry three-fourths complete

Future home of the food pantry

The fundraising committee of the Greene County Christian Action Resource Center has raised close to three-fourths of its goal for the purchase of the former Clark Heating  & Plumbing location on N. Elm St in Jefferson.

Pastor Julie Poulsen, chair of the Action Resource Center board, announced that as of Wednesday, the building account totals $73,027. That will cover the purchase price of the building when the sale closes Dec. 13.

The board set a fundraising goal of $99,000 to include remodeling expenses to maximize the use of the building as a food pantry.

Persons who would like to donate to the project can send checks to Greene County Christian Action Resource Center, c/o treasurer Carol Zwicky, 112 E. Harrison St, Jefferson, IA 50129.

GCCARC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and will provide documentation for donations.
