The Greene County baseball team got into the win column in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference with an 11-1 win over the South Hamilton Hawks in Jefferson Monday. The game ended after the top of the fifth inning via the 10-run rule.
The Ram defense committed no errors as junior Bryce Hoyle pitched the entire game and gave up only three hits. He struck out six batters and walked only one. He also picked off two runners at first base, both in the second inning.
The Rams scored two runs in the first inning, five in the second, one in the third and three in the fourth. The first eight runs scored when the Rams had two outs against them.
Nick Breon had four runs batted in with a pair of singles and a double. Wade Adcock had three RBIs with two doubles and a single. Tom Gannon also had three RBIs with a single and a double. Brent Riley hit a pair of singles, one of them for an RBI. Garrett Swain got an RBI with one single. Tyler Teeples hit three singles and Ben Wilkins singled, walked, and was hit by a pitch.
The Rams are 3-5 on the season and 1-4 in the HOIAC. The Hawks are 3-7-1 overall and 1-6-1 in the conference.
