The Greene County baseball team picked up a 6-3 win over Carroll Thursday, June 7, but fell to PCM 5-3 on Friday.
The Rams are 0-4 in Heart of Iowa Conference action and 2-5 overall.
Rams 6 ~ Carroll 3
Greene County ended a four-game drought Thursday with a win over Carroll in Jefferson. Bryce Hoyle drove in a run in the first inning but the Tigers tied the score with a run in the third. In the bottom of the fifth, Brent Riley cracked a double which was followed by RBI singles from Tyler Teeples and Jordan Patterson. Wade Adcock batted into a fielder’s choice, allowing the third run of the inning. Nick Breon rapped a double and Breon scored on a base hit from Ben Wilkens who went 3-3 on the night.
Wilkens got the start on the mound, relieved by Branden Hoyle. Wilkens allowed three hits, four walks and eight strikeouts.
PCM 5 ~ Rams 3
Greene County scored first with a run in the top of the second inning. PCM countered with two in the bottom of the inning. The Mustangs took a 4-1 lead with two runs in the third. The Rams added two in the fourth to close the gap 4-3 but PCM put another run on the board in the bottom of the fifth to end scoring by both teams.
Austin Delp was the losing pitcher, giving up five earned runs on seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
The Rams stroked seven singles hit by Nick Breon, Ben Wilkens, Brent Riley, Wade Adcock, Tyler Teeples, Tom Gannon and Delp. Breon and Wilkens each drove in a run with their base hits.
