Paton-Churdan junior Megan Carey is among the elite high school speech participants selected for the Individual Event All-State Speech Festival.

Carey will perform her prose piece “Mum on the Run” by Laura Mazza.

P-C speech coach Stephanie Pace reports that eight students started the individual events season with a total of 13 entries as follows: Briana Jewett, poetry; Jenna Beyers, poetry; Carter Meseck, radio news; Kyla Beyers, prose and musical theatre; Madi Minnehan, public address and musical theatre; Karissa Stephenson, prose and radio news; Hannah Bundt, literary program and poetry; and Carey, prose and musical theatre.

Minnehan advanced to state competition in musical theatre, and Carey advanced with both events. She received “I” division ratings in both events, with the All-State nomination being in prose.
