Speech groups advance to state contest

The Greene County High School speech team will have five events at the state large group speech contest Saturday, Feb. 3. Six groups competed in the district contest last Saturday at Roosevelt High School in Des Moines. The contests are held under the auspices of the Iowa High School Speech Association.

Getting a “I” rating and advancing to the state contest are:
• Radio news – Regan Lamoureux, Kassie Lamoureux, Kirsten Lamoureux, Arthur Bardole and Avery Bardole
• Ensemble acting – Alex Roberts, Paige Egeland, Kendall Fecher and Andrea Grundon
• Short film – Arthur Bardole, Avery Bardole, Sydney Roberts, Blake Kaufman, Jackson Gerdes, Cayden Gerdes and Crawford Petterson
• Choral reading – Chantel Flack, Megan Durbin, Brittany Hareyer, Ashlee Harmeyer, Kirsten Lamoureux, Kassie Lamoureux, Cara Betts, Sarah Erickson, Regan Lamouruex, Ellie Madson and Samantha Hardaway
• Group improvisation – Jordan Davis, Natalie Payan, Morrgan Zmolek

A one act play performed by Jordan Davis, Naomi Long, Robert Arnold, Blake Kaufman, Morrgan Zolek and Natalie Payan received a “II” rating

Speech coaches are Kelley Gray and Darren Jackson.

The choral reading is one of five groups advancing to the state contest.
