FFA has busy December

The Horn of Plenty FFA chapter at Greene County High School recently donated an assortment of fruit to the Greene County Christian Action Resource Center food pantry. According to chapter adviser Katie Akers, the members have “a strong heart for service to others.”

The donation was part of a busy December for the chapter.

Kendall Fecher

The chapter at Greene County High School held its third annual jacket award ceremony Dec. 8, inducting 24 greenhand members into the chapter. The event was sponsored by the Greene County Cattlemen. Guest speakers were Cattlemen Tom Lawton and Mike Holden.

Nic Killion

Two members represented the chapter at sub-district FFA competition Dec. 13 at Panorama High School. Freshman Kendall Fecher competed in creed speaking and received a gold rating. She will advance to the district contest in March. Senior Nic Killion showcased his welding skills and received a gold rating. He will be an alternate for the district level contest.

Seniors Ben Bravard, C.J. Muir and Kara Reed competed in the 2017 Iowa Cattlemen Beef Extravaganza Dec. 6 in Ames.
