The Ram varsity volleyball team won it’s opening match at the South Hardin tournament Saturday but lost the next three.
“We started the day with a good three-game win. We had a hard time shaking the close loss to Edgewood-Colesburg and couldn’t seem to gain momentum after that,” coach Donna Carhill said.
Game scores against South Hardin were 21-8, 17-21, 15-6. Against Edgewood-Colesburg scores were 22-24, 16-21. The Rams lost to Gladbrook Reinbeck 5-21, 10-21, and against Grandview Christian 15-21, 17-21.
Aubrey Heupel served 23 of 25 with three aces and Sophia Havens served 27 of 31 with three aces. Megan Durbin served 32 of 36 with two aces.
Durbin led in kills with 28 while Samantha Hardaway had 12. Heupel had 45 assists. Chantel Flack and Hardaway had 25 digs and Durbin had 20.
“We served aggressively and worked to run a quick offense whenever possible. We have been working on our passing game and that showed. We were able to run our offense off most of our passes. We’ll continue to refine our defense, especially at the net,” Carhill said.
