Babies rule in fair contest

Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds was full of proud parents and grandparents as babies and toddlers had the stage at the annual baby contest Saturday.

The young competitors were in two age categories: up to 1 year as of July 1; and 12 months and 1 day up to 2 years.

In the younger category winners were:

  • Most hair – Natalie Baxley, Jefferson
  • Least hair – Henry Gannon, Jefferson
  • Cutest smile – Nash Olson, Churdan
  • Biggest eyes – Cameron Lawrence, Jefferson
  • Chubbiest cheeks – Lakota Exline, Jefferson
  • Most resembles another family member – Grace Kanealy, Jefferson

In the older category winners were:

  • Cutest smile – Triston Woodley, Jefferson
  • Most talkative – Lee Holtz, Grand Junction
  • Most resembles another family member – Teegan Ritter, Jefferson
  • Best outfit for fair – Jenslyn Kennedy, Rippey
  • Fastest walker when called by parent – Harper Lawton, Jefferson
  • Most attached to favorite object – Anthony Ritter, Jefferson

Members of Beta Tau Delta sorority were judges for the contest.

There were drawings for cash prizes for the competitors and meat certificates for audience members. Nash Olson of Churdan won $50 in the younger category. Kashlyn Skalla of Jefferson one $50 in the older category.

Winners of $10 beef certificates furnished by the Greene County Beef Producers were Lyn Koppen, Gary Woodley, Phyllis Woodley, Jan McDermott, Sandra Drewry and Dan Ritter, all of Jefferson.

Winners of $10 pork certificates furnished by the Greene County Pork Producers were Cheyanne Exline, Kelsey Baxley, Andrew Woodley and Jessica Woodley of Jefferson, Megan Theulen of Scranton, and Hank Cunningham of Clive.

Ann Cunningham planned the baby contest.
