Kids with a Connection mentoring program and ISU Extension and Outreach – Greene County are sponsoring Fun in the Park on Saturday, June 17, at Kelso Park in Jefferson. This free activity features games, food and fun for kids who finished kindergarten through 5th grades. While there is no charge, kids must be pre-registered with the Extension office. Rain location is the Greene County Community Center.
Parents should check their in kids starting at 9 am. Muffins and juice will be available from 9-9:30. From 9:30-11:30 GCHS Ram and ISU Cyclone football players will run a variety of games and activities. A picnic lunch featuring burgers grilled by Greene County Cattlemen will start at 11:30. Parents can pick up their youth at 12:15 pm.
Laura Ballard, Kids with a Connection Coordinator, said, “We are so excited to put on this fun morning for Greene County youth. It’s a great opportunity to participate in healthy activities. It’s also a chance for the football players to experience the rewards mentoring can bring to their lives.” Kids with a Connection is funded by a grant through the Iowa Department of Human Services. The day will promote the positive impact mentoring has on the lives of children.
Parents will need to sign their kids in when they arrive and provide emergency contact information. There will be adult volunteers on hand, so parents do not need to stay.
For more information or to pre-register contact Laura Ballard at the Extension Office by calling 515-386-2138 or stopping by the Extension office at 104 W. Washington St in Jefferson.
