The Kinkead-Martin American Legion Post #583 will conduct its ceremony at the conclusion of the services at the Pleasant Hill Church at 11:30 on Sunday, May 28

On Memorial Day they will be at Fairview United Methodist Church at 9 am for the services and perform their ceremony at the cemetery afterwards. They will be at the Angus Cemetery at 10, Old Rippey Cemetery at 10:30 and conclude the morning at Rippey Cemetery at 11.  There will be a meal following the Memorial Day services at the Rippey United Methodist Church.

News in and around Rippey – Mother’s Day weekend guests in the home of Virgene Morse were Kevin and Delores Blanshan of Waterloo and Kelsey Blanshan of Ankeny. Joining them on Saturday were Diane and Terry Ostendorf, Ben and Madelyn of Madrid.  They spent the weekend planting Grandma’s garden and enjoying good conversation and meals.

Dale and Nancy Hanaman had a busy weekend with a graduation and confirmation to attend. Their son Matthew Hanaman graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Superior with a bachelor of science in elementary education. They attended the ceremony with other family members. Afterwards they shared a meal at Sarah and Benji Pearson’s home. On Sunday, Dale assisted Pastor Joel Certa-Werner at the confirmation of granddaughter Elizabeth Pearson at Faith UMC in Superior. Sarah and Benji hosted a meal for family and friends in the afternoon.  A brief visit to Beloit on Monday completed the trip, before heading home on Tuesday.

Jean Borgeson attended the graduation party for her grand-niece Anna Hope Losen, held at Stoney Creek Hotel in Johnston.  Anna is a 2017 graduate of Johnston High School. Others attending from the area were Michael and Jill Borgeson, Jace and Seth, Alan and Sarah Borgeson and Kale, all of Rippey, and Robert Borgeson from Jamaica and Mel Searce from Minburn.  Several other graduations in the Rippey area were attended by some of the group in the evening.
