Mary Catherine Acton was born October 31, 1960, in Greene County.  She was the daughter of Robert and Helen Acton.

Mary grew up on the family farm in rural Rippey  as the youngest of  seven children. Mary attended school in Jefferson near the airport, starting at the age of 8.

Mary made the big move to Daisy Cottage at New Hope Village located in Carroll in 1985.  She later moved into a group home in Glidden. Mary enjoyed being part of the community in Glidden, especially planting flowers in the community park and cheering on the local youth at sporting events.

Mary lived life to the fullest and certainly enjoyed herself along the way.  She took joy in traveling to visit family in Chicago and Phoenix, as well as many trips with Special Journeys. Mary loved cats, the TV show ‘Touched by an Angel’, and was never seen without a well-worn book. She loved music, especially Elvis, and the Green Bay Packers.

Mary loved life and her family, especially her brothers who loved to tease her.  She loved to laugh!  Mary lived a full and beautiful life. She taught her family and those around her so many things about life and will be missed by many.

Mary passed away May 16, 2017.

Services were arranged by Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home of Jefferson.
