Scranton sesqui committee plans fundraiser

The first fundraising event for the 2019 Scranton sesquicentennial celebration will be a potato bar luncheon Sunday, March 5, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Scranton Community Center. A white elephant silent auction will follow the lunch.

The committee is looking for donations of “not really” white elephant items that might be “prized” by someone. Potential donors can notify the committee with a photo by email to scrantonsqui2019@gmail.com OR drop off small items at Scranton city hall. A committee member will respond with logistics. All donations will be appreciated.

The logo contest is under way. The committee wants a unique logo for the Scranton 150th sesquicentennial to be used on all the saleable items (souvenirs). Contest deadline is June 30.

Age brackets will be used to judge: children under 10 years of age; young adults 10 to 20 years of age; and adults older than 20 years of age at the time of entry.

There will be a winner in each division and an overall winner which will be the official logo. Contestants can submit more than one design. Contestants do not need to have a Scranton address to enter. Email to scrantonsqui2019@gmail.com
