The Greene County Community Center and the Greene County Middle School gym were busy places Saturday at the Jefferson park and recreation department hosted the first weekend of youth basketball tournaments.
Seventh and eighth grade girls and boys teams from Panora, Perry, Nevada, ADM, Emmetsburg, Greene County, Carroll, Audubon, Humboldt, Coon Rapids and the Play 4 Him basketball academy competed in round robin tournaments.
Next week fifth and sixth grade teams will compete.
The tournaments are a fundraiser for the JPRD and are possible with help from many community volunteers. JPRD director Vicky Lautner and assistant director Sean Ostendorf thank all the volunteers and invite the public to enjoy some good youth basketball next Saturday, Feb. 11.
