The county’s total ending fund balance is $64,000 healthier after the county supervisors approved an amendment to the current year budget Monday. That action followed a public hearing attended by no one from the public.
The larger changes in the budget reflected flow through funds from the Bell Tower Community Foundation for work on the Mahanay tower, from Grow Greene County for work on the Raccoon River Valley Trail, and from the Greene County Fair Association for its capital project at the fairgrounds.
Revenue in the amendment increased $270,038; expenditures increased $343,765. Expenditures not covered by revenue coming in included a $30,000 increase in shelter care and juvenile detention, increased expense in the county attorney’s office with the addition of an assistant prior to the end of the fiscal year, and $27,000 for maintenance on the Mahanay tower.
All said and done, the total ending fund balance after the amendment is $3,329,163, increased from $3,265,484. Of the fund balance, $744,452 is unassigned.
