In Greene County district court Jamie Ray Alvarado, 22, of Grand Junction was sentenced Nov. 17 to two days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated (OWI)- first offense. He was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge and a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE). He must also pay $528.34 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Brittany Kay Smith, 29, of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine; and Melissa Marie Kroupa, 37, of Grimes, burglary- third degree (motor vehicle) and burglary- second degree. Trial dates were set for Jan. 24 in both cases.
A case was initiated against William Steven McClure, 22, of Jefferson on a charge of domestic abuse assault impeding blood/air flow.
