Greene County High School will be represented by three vocalists and a bass clarinet player at the All-State Music Festival on the Iowa State University Campus Nov. 17-19. They were selected at auditions in Atlantic Oct. 22.
Senior Noah Von Stein will return to the All-State Band on bass clarinet, having also been selected last year.
Seniors Michael Kennedy and Kenna Marquardt and freshman Jacob Hanson were selected for the chorus. This will be Kennedy’s third All-State appearance, and the first for Marquardt and Hanson.
Hanson was selected after the first round of auditions. Kennedy and Marquardt, along with Nadia Fisher, Jack Schilling, Edwin Lenchanko and Kara Betts were recalled for the second round, with Kennedy and Marquardt being selected.
The All-State Band will be directed by Dr Jack Stamp, adjunct professor of music at the University of Wisconsin- River Falls. He is in demand as a guest conductor, clinician, adjudicator and composer, and his compositions have been commissioned and performed by leading military and university bands across the U.S.
The All-State Chorus will be conducted ty Jonathan Reed, associate professor of music and associate director of choral activities at Michigan State University.
The 70th annual All-State Music Festival concert will take place Saturday, Nov. 19, in Hilton Coliseum on the ISU campus. Rehearsals will begin Nov. 17. The festival is organized by the Iowa High School Music Association.
